| Fascinating: Kirk to interview Spock tomorrow | TV Squad | |
| Filed under: Celebrities, Talk Show, Reality-FreeHas anyone been watching William Shatner's talk show Raw Nerve? I swore to myself that I would watch it when it premiered, but it's on The Biography Channel, and sometimes when we're talking about those channels that get up to 105 or 144 or 170 on your cable system, you forget that the show is on. Heck, I'm not even sure I even get The Biography Channel on my cable system since they started taking away and adding channels in my package last year. But if I do have it I'm going to check out tomorrow's episode for sure.On the January 6 episode, Shatner is going to interview good friend and Star Trek buddy Leonard Nimoy.Continue reading Fascinating: Kirk to interview Spock tomorrow Permalink | Email this | | Comments |

| New TV on DVD releases this week | TV Squad | |
| Filed under: TV on DVD, Site Announcements, Reality-FreeHere are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.I'm really excited about the second season set for Mannix. The first season had Joe Mannix working for a high-tech investigation firm, which was fine, but the second season is when he becomes a private eye and hires Gail Fisher to be his secretary (yes, secretary: this was before women became "executive assistants"). If you like detective shows and have never seen Mannix (I don't think it's on TV much these days), check it out. It also has one of the coolest theme songs in TV history. Battlestar Galactica - Season 4 Dexter - Season 1 (Blu-Ray) Doctor Who - The War Machines and Four To Doomsday Duckman - Seasons 3 and 4 Frisky Dingo - Season 2 Ghost Hunters - Absolute Best Laredo - Best of Season 2, Part 2 Mannix - Season 2 Tranformers Animated - Season 2 Tripping the Rift - Season 3 The Tudors - Season 2 The Waltons - Season 8 Permalink | Email this | | Comments |

| USA says yes to Royal Pains | TV Squad | |
| Filed under: Pickups and Renewals, Reality-FreeSing with me: here's a story about a doctor who is busy caring for rich folks in New York... Okay, it doesn't have the bouncy tune of a Sherwood Schwartz theme song, but this new USA show sounds like fun. USA has picked up Royal Pains, a new summer series starring Mark Feuerstein as Hank Lawson, M.D., a doctor who is on-call to some of the most demanding patients around, the richie-riches who live in the fashionable Hamptons of Long Island. There are a few reasons to be psyched about this new drama. For starters, it's coming from the same network that brings us Psych, not to mention Burn Notice, Starter Wife and In Plain Sight. In other words, USA has been doing very well in developing idiosyncratic, interesting comedy-drama series. There's no reason to think that Royal Pains will be a dud.Continue reading USA says yes to Royal Pains Permalink | Email this | | Comments |

| Filed under: OpEd, Desperate Housewives, Reality-Free, Episode Recaps(S05E11) "No one's better at plastering a fake smile and pretending to like someone than Bree Hodge." - OrsonOur favorite desperate characters are back! Sadly, not with a vengeance. But still, you have to admit they were entertaining this week. My favorite scenes were definitely those with Susan and Lee and those with Bree and Delina. But before we get to why these scenes were my favs, let's deal with the ongoing mystery: Dave Williams... err... David Dash.Continue reading Desperate Housewives: Home Is the Place Permalink | Email this | | Comments |

| Kyle XY gets an early premiere courtesy of the Su... | TV Squad | |
| Filed under: Other Sci-Fi/Supernatural Shows, Programming, OpEd, Web, Reality-FreeDamn the TCA's, screw billboards and to hell with magazine advertising! Slowly, ever so slowly, TV networks are beginning to realize that the Internet is the way to go to promote new and ongoing shows. The ways I mentioned above, those are the Stone Age, man. The newfangled World Wide Web is how their shows are going to become hits. Case in point: the season 3 premiere of Kyle XY. While it's network television premiere is next Monday on ABC Family, you denizens of the technological world can see it over at Fancast right now. Heck, you can't even see it on ABC Family's website -- those primitives. For the interested, this is the conclusion to the season two cliffhanger that left Kyle searching for the abducted Amanda. Look, if you are one of those people who like to stay one step ahead of everyone else, get your butt over to Fancast and watch the premiere. Then, you can let all of your commoner friends know what happened. Just make sure you limber up first because you are sure to be chased by fans of the show after you reveal all the spoilers. | Group sex? Virgin sacrifices? Check out a clip fr... | TV Squad | |
| Filed under: Battlestar Galactica, Video, Reality-FreeA new clip from the Caprica pilot hit the web today. The clip features Eric Stoltz's Daniel Graystone touring a "Cyber Club," where people go to dance, drink, and offer the occasional virgin sacrifice to the goddess of the underworld. There's also a fight club, group sex rooms, and fantasy killing rituals. Hmm, maybe humanity did deserve to get nuked after all.SciFi's upcoming Battlestar Galactica prequel is slated to hit the air with a two-hour movie in 2010. Judging by this clip, Ron Moore and crew are ready to go to some very dark places with this series, but only time will tell if BSG fans are ready to follow them.Continue reading Group sex? | Who should be the Doctor's next companion? | TV Squad | |
| Filed under: OpEd, Doctor Who, Reality-FreeSo now that we know the identity of the actor to play the next Doctor on Doctor Who, the Telegraph newspaper in the U.K. is now beginning speculation on the identity of the Doctor's next traveling companion. Since this is speculation, I would take it with a grain of salt. At least it's not from the other British "newspaper" the Sun.They seem to think that the BBC and the producers will go with the semi-famous pop star route that proved successful with Billie Piper (The article throws out names like Lily Allen). It's a safe bet that whomever the Doctor's next companion is will be young and female.Given the complete history of the show, companions have run the gamut. Since the reboot, I liked Rose and Martha and adored Donna (up until the end, which I fell flat a bit). For his remaining specials, David Tennant's Doctor will be pretty much companion-less. Who would you like to see join the next Doctor for a romp in the TARDIS? Permalink | Email this | | Comments |

| Are you ready for 71 new and returning shows? | TV Squad | |
| Filed under: Programming, Reality-FreeSo, the holidays are over and here we are at the beginning of a new year and a return to the TV season. No more Rudolph, no more Miracle on 34th Street, no more Santa comin' to town or anywhere else (I hear the elves don't even get a break in their work - they're already at work today getting ready for Christmas 2009). Now we have to get ready for the return of all of our favorites and some new and returning shows that haven't even come back yet. There's a lot of stuff coming this month. But I bet you had no idea that there were 71 shows bowing this month. That's right, 71.Continue reading Are you ready for 71 new and returning shows? | What happened to Playhouse Disney this morning? | TV Squad | |
| Filed under: Programming, Animation, Children, Reality-FreeThe following item is for those of you parents out there with young children. Those of you who watch soft-core porn in the morning can disregard this post. Did any of you notice something weird with the Playhouse Disney schedule this morning? Starting at 6 a.m. EST you get JoJo's Circus, Johnny and the Sprites and The Wiggles, and those mini-episodes that the network imports from Canada. That wasn't the case this morning. Instead we got Phineas and Ferb, Imagination Movers and Handy Manny. In addition, Ooh and Ahh, and all of the labels that it was Playhouse Disney were gone as well. By 8:00 a.m. things looked to have been corrected as Little Einsteins aired at its normal time.Continue reading What happened to Playhouse Disney this morning? Permalink | Email this | | Comments |
